    2. Stated that the Multi-Cultural Club at Florence High School, which she sponsors, is currently working on a sister-school relationship with a high school in China;
    3. Stated that Steve Richerson (aka Steve Trash) made a three-minute video at the 2006 Faire and has given it to us to post on our website and our Myspace page; and
    4. Stated that Steve Richerson also made a 17-minute video at the 2006 Faire which he is offering to us as a fundraiser for him and for us.

  2. Billy Warren stated that the winning artwork by children in the 2007 Renaissance Art contest will be displayed at the public library in October. Jan Roblin volunteered to work with a committee on this project.

  3. Jan Roblin announced that a coy of her new book is being mailed to Oprah Winfrey in hopes that it will be accepted for Oprah’s Book Club.

  4. Carol Burhans stated that she is now part of a 3-D instant-messaging group and ask for permission to link it (IMVU.com) with the Renaissance Faire website.  Her request was deferred to the next meeting of the Board of Directors.

  5. Don Green stated that we should purchase two or three additional tapestries each year for us to use as decorations at the annual Feast.

  6. It was agreed that a group of Roundtable members will meet on a designated day to erect our 10’ x 20’ information tent in the Richards Center auditorium so we can decorate it with fabric purchased by Susan Key.  Donna Miles stated that she also has fabric that we can use for this project.  All agreed (as was stated during the evaluation session on 11-2-06) that we cannot ask vendors to improve the looks of their tents until we make the information tent look more “period.”

  7. Donna Miles stated that our 15-year-old banners are in need of replacement.  There will be further discussion on how to accomplish this project.

  8. In a drawing, Jan Roblin won a boxful of children’s valentines on the Harry Potter theme.  Her Majesty Queen Ostara won a boxful of children’s valentines on the Lord of the Rings theme.

  9. Billy Warren:
    1. Circulated a page from the winter, 2006, issue of Shoals magazine which featured a collection of full-color pictures taken at the 2006 Feast;
    2. Distributed copies of a request from a lady in Jemison, Alabama, who wants some Roundtable members to stage a Renaissance-related demonstration (like the ones at public libraries across the state in 2006) at a Cub Scout encampment on June 8 and June 15;
    3. Thanked Don Green and Lee Freeman who came to the meeting in costume and, following the meeting, went directly to Harlan Elementary School to make a Renaissance presentation;
    4. Reminded everyone that the librarian at Harlan Elementary School has requested a group of Roundtable members to appear in costume there in April (date TBA);
    5. Reported that he presented a proposal this week to Mayor Irons for Veterans Park to become a working Medieval-Renaissance Village;
    6. Asked everyone to think about a business location as a Feast ticket outlet since Anderson’s Bookland on Court Street has closed;
    7. Welcomed Rick McAdams who rejoined the Roundtable today; and
    8. Reported that Mayor Irons asked him to prepare a response to a request for information on our town from the editor of an English-language publication in Firenze because the editor wants to solidify the sister-city relationship between the Florence in Italy and the Florence in Alabama.

  10. William Freeman agreed to post on You Tube the three-minute video created by Steve Trash of the 2006 Faire.

  11. At the February Roundtable meeting, we will spend a portion of the meeting in a brainstorming session for new ideas for the 2007 Feast and Faire.
