  1. The group welcomed the Queen-to-be, Rebecca Linam, and everyone applauded her!  Billy Warren noted that her reign will probably focus on the German Renaissance.

  2. Donna Miles brought homemade muffins to share with all Roundtable members.  Thanks, Donna!

  3. William Townsend:
    1. Thanked everyone who volunteered to perform on the paddlewheeler, “Pickwick Belle,” even though the cruise was canceled because of too-few reservations; and
    2. Reported a successful, well-received presentation by Roundtable members to seventh graders from Muscle Shoals Middle School on Friday, October 17, at the Coliseum.

  4. Aubrey Gaskins reported that the Roundtable members’ feast set for tonight at Stephano’s has been postponed.  After discussing a possible date, the group agreed on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28, at 7:00 p.m.

  5. Lee Freeman reported a successful film series on three Sunday afternoons in October at the public library.  The final one, Excalibur, was shown Sunday, October 19.

  6. There was a round of applause for Vinamrata Gupta because of her excellent coordination of volunteers for the Renaissance Feast.  She asked that a brief description of the Renaissance Faire be available for her to distribute to the international students at UNA.  Billy Warren responded that a brief description appears on our website.  He will make sure that she has a copy to duplicate.

Vinamrata stated that the international students will perform at the Faire.

She also announced that the Diwali Festival (a native Indian festival) will take place at Webster Hotel and Suites on November 4.  She will give more complete information to Billy Warren who will email it to everyone on the Roundtable.

  1. Darlene Freemon thanked all Roundtable members who came to Renaissance Day at Florence High School on Wednesday, October 22.  She stated that approximately 200 students were in costume and that they were especially attentive during the presentations in the library.  The day was, in short, a resounding success!

  2. Ann Iaria reported that she borrowed three “hot boxes” from the Marriott kitchen for us to use to keep food warm during last Saturday’s Feast.  On behalf of the Roundtable, Billy Warren thanked Ann for her thoughtfulness and stated that he will write thank-you notes to the chefs at the Marriott.

  3. There was applause for Sue Bevis who, within the past few weeks, has:
    1. Made a photograph of each of the winning entries in the children’s art contest so they (the photographs) may be exhibited at this year’s Faire; and
    2. Created:

                                                              i.      Tickets for the Feast with the image of the 2008 poster on the reverse side,

ii.      A narrow card with the Feast menu (including ingredients for each item) printed on it and the image of the 2008 poster on the reverse side,

iii.      A card with the Feast entertainment printed on it and the image of the 2008 poster on the reverse side, and

iv.      A card to distribute at the Information Booth to anyone who expresses interest in being part of the Roundtable.

  1. Don Green reported that, even though we weren’t able to start decorating the Coliseum for the Feast until 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, the decorating was completed by 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Then it was completely dismantled by 12:30 a.m. on Sunday morning following the 10 p.m. completion of the Feast.  Don thanked the many Roundtable members who assisted so tirelessly.

  2. William Freeman announced that Jerry and Lori Woolfolk took candid digital photographs during the Feast.  These photographs are already posted on the Renaissance Faire’s MySpace page (www.muspace.com/alrenfaire).  Jim Lake will make 25 copies of the disk so that any Roundtable member who wants a copy may have one.

  3. Don Green agreed to make staff badges using the coins of the realm with the clips glued on them by Rick McAdams.

  4. Billy Warren profusely thanked Rick McAdams and Sue Bevis for agreeing to do the layout of the park.  Debbie Martin also volunteered to assist with this vital project.

  5. Darlene Freemon stated that her students will assist at the Faire, primarily on garbage detail.  She explained that their service hours count toward their required service time in such campus organizations as the Key Club and the Honor Society.  Students may choose to work for a vendor for pay, but they cannot receive hours credit if they receive pay.

  6. Billy Warren asked for a show of hands of those who can work at the park on Friday, October 24, and early morning on Saturday, October 25.  MANY Roundtable members volunteered.

  7. (Drum roll, please!) Billy Warren announced that the porta-johns are already in place for the Faire!

  8. In a drawing, Vinamrata Gupta won a gargoyle.

  9. Billy Warren reported that:
    1. A security guard has been scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights at the Faire;
    2. Three dumpsters will be set up on the southeast corner of Tuscaloosa Street and Wood Avenue; and
    3. Barricades for three intersections around the park will be delivered on Friday.
