  2. Twenty (20) Roundtable members came to the meeting in full costume for a photo shoot; an outdoor photograph with Roundtable members surrounding a table laden with food, candelabra, baskets, flowers, etc. was taken by a Times-Daily photographer.  It will appear in the newspaper on October 13 to advertise the Feast.  There was enthusiastic applause for Cathy Myers who arranged for the photograph.  Billy Warren thanked everyone for being so prompt (and in costume) for the photo shoot.

  3. In a discussion about “A Pilgrim’s Progress,” the upcoming marionette show by David Simpich, everyone was reminded:
    1. That there will be two 7 p.m.  shows at First United Methodist Church: Friday and Saturday, October 27 and 28;
    2. That tickets cost $5.00 each (with seating limited to 400 at each show) and are available only at the church – except Saturday, October 28, when they will be available in the information booth at the Faire; and
    3. That child care (for pre-schoolers only) will be available during shows.

  4. Billy Warren announced that, thanks to Kim Lovelace, a reservation at McFarland Campground has been made for David Simpich to park his RV while he is in town.  William Freeman stated that his dad will make sure that David is escorted around town.  Billy Warren distributed copies of the press release about the “Pilgrim’s Progress” show and asked everyone to post it in high-traffic areas.

  5. In addition to those Roundtable members who are listed under #4 in the 9-21-06 Roundtable meeting minutes, these people will also attend the Feast on the lawn of Coby Hall at UNA on Friday, October 27, at 5:00 p.m.:  Larry Kimbrough, Karen Ugrovics, Randall Ugrovics, Tammy Coleman and David Delano.

  6. Billy Warren stated that three UNA officials need costumes to wear to the October 27 Feast.  He displayed two costumes that, everyone agreed, would be appropriate.  John Holcomb recommended that the officials check with the UNA Drama Department.  Billy Warren will convey that suggestion to the officials.

  7. Billy Warren complimented Lee Freeman on Lee’s lecture on Joan of Arc at the public library on Sunday, October 1.  Lee reminded everyone that Terry Pace will lecture on Joan of Arc in movies over the years.  That lecture will take place at the public library this Sunday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m.  Lee further reminded everyone that Jan Roblin will speak on Renaissance art at the library on Sunday, October 15, at 2:00 p.m.

  8. Lee Freeman stated that he has completed approximately one half of the Glossary of Medieval Terms, which will be posted on the Faire’s website.

  9. Billy Warren circulated copies of the first issue of Kidsville News, the newspaper that is for students in grades K-6.  It will be published monthly by the Courier-Journal.  Billy pointed out the article about the Renaissance Faire which he was asked by the editor to write.

  10. Billy Warren distributed copies of promotional cards for Renaissance magazine.  He noted that we will distribute the cards free of charge in the information booth on both days of the Faire.

  11. Billy Warren distributed copies of the schedule of special events at which Roundtable members have been invited to appear in costume. He reminded everyone that the next such event is First Friday in downtown Florence tomorrow (Friday, October 6, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.).

  12. These Roundtable members agreed to go in costume to Harlan Elementary School on Thursday, November 2, at 1:30 p.m.: Darlene Freemon, Jan Roblin, William Freeman, John Holcomb, Don Green, Carol Burhans.

  13. Her Majesty Queen Freya suggested that a 20th anniversary quilt top should be created.  Everyone agreed that this project can be started, at least, at the costume-making workshop.

  14. Jim Lake announced that “Lion in Winter” begins tonight at the Ritz Theatre.  There will be performances both this week and next.  Billy Warren added his recommendation that everyone attend this Renaissance-era play if at all possible.

  15. Donna Miles stated that the entertainment schedule for the Feast is complete.  She described each act that will be done – it is a very grand line-up!

  16. Billy Warren noted that Renaissance Faire banners have now been mounted on utility poles in downtown Florence.  Everyone agreed that they look terrific!

  17. Billy Warren reminded everyone that tickets for the Feast went on sale Monday, October 2, at both Kennedy-Douglass Art Center and Anderson’s Bookland on Court Street.  He reported that many more tickets than usual this year are being purchased through e-mail requests.  Since Monday, Billy has received orders for 26 tickets in this way.

  18. Her Majesty Queen Freya invited all who will to join her in an “invasion” of the Marriott to advertise the Faire.  She will inform everyone of the date and time for the invasion at the Roundtable meeting on Thursday, October 12.

  20. In a drawing, Tammy Coleman won a bag of Werther’s candy, and Randall Ugrovics won a cassette audiotape of classic Christmas music.

  21. Billy Warren displayed a fine old book for children entitled The Pictorial History Book which has a very interesting section on both the Medieval and Renaissance eras.  Published in London, it has interestingly written textual material and excellent illustrations.
