  1. Those who represented the Roundtable at the North Shelby County Public Library on June 5 (William Freeman, Don Green, John Holcomb and Taz Scott) reported an excellent trip.  The attendance for the event was small, but the librarian there was pleased with everything.  She stated that the targeted group for this event (young adolescents) seems always to attend in small numbers.  There was a round of applause for the four men who represented us so well!

The next trip is today at the Rogersville Public Library.  These people are slated to leave the Richards Center parking lot at 2:30 p.m. in order to be ready to perform in Rogersville at 4:00 p.m.:  William Freeman, Don Green, Lee Freeman, Her Majesty Queen Freya, John Iaria, Taz Scott, John Holcomb, Perri Scott-Hawthorne and Keith Hawthorne.

  1. One library trip has been added to the schedule: the Haleyville Public Library on Thursday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m.  These people agreed to go (others are free to join the group, of course):  William Freeman, Lee Freeman, Don Green, John Holcomb.

  2. Becky Love-Bassham stated that she will join the group that is scheduled to perform at the Pell City Public Library on Wednesday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m.

  4. Billy Warren publicly thanked Jackie and Mike Freeman and other officials with the Tennessee Renaissance Festival for giving the Roundtable 40 complimentary tickets.  All tickets were used!

  5. Lee Freeman reported that references to our 2006 Feast are now on Jim Matterer’s website.  Jim is planning a Valhalla Feast in deference to the reign of Her Majesty Queen Freya.

  6. Billy Warren:
    1. Stated that he will send an e-mail to Salana Letsinger regarding the painting of the canvas “walls” constructed by Don and Mandi Green and Keith Hawthorne; and
    2. Exhibited the winning poster for 2006 created by Shawn Wallace of Phil Campbell, a student at Northwest-Shoals Community College.

  7. William Freeman reported that he is searching for sponsors for the two marionette shows of “Pilgrim’s Progress” which will be done in the Family Life Center at First United Methodist Church during the week preceding the Faire.

  8. William Freeman and John Iaria encouraged everyone to visit the Alabama Renaissance Faire’s page at this address:  Myspace.com/alrenfaire.  They have spent lots of time creating the page and have had excellent responses to it.  A suggestion was made that this page be linked to our official website.  Billy Warren stated that that suggestion will be an agenda item for the Board of Director’s July meeting.

  9. Jim Lake and Chris Solis agreed to collaborate to get pictures from the 2005 Faire ready to send to Vince Brewton, our webmaster, for posting.  Billy Warren will see whether the pictures done by Glenn Bevis might be available in electronic form; if so, posting them on the website will be very easy.

  10. Don Green reported that refurbishing the boats crafted by Norm LaRoy is progressing well.  He wants to find pictures of the people who will be honored by bronze plaques on some of the boats so he can create a large display near the fountain.  Jan Roblin agreed to assist in the creation of this display.  Billy Warren reminded everyone that we will conduct a major ceremony on the first day of the Faire to commemorate the launching of the refurbished boats.

  11. In the drawing, William Freeman won a book entitled Shakespeare’s Houses.  Perri Scotto-Hawthorne won a chess board.

  12. Aubrey Gaskins distributed copies of a flyer with Stephano’s menu and hours of operation printed on it.  Everyone applauded for the success of Stephano’s in its new location in Towne Plaza Shopping Center in Sheffield.

  13. Lindsey Holt encouraged everyone to patronize the event this weekend (June 17 and 18) known as “Antiques on the River” which takes place in McFarland Park.  She also reminded everyone that the Helen Keller Festival will take place next week (June 19 through June 25).

  14. Mary Nicely presented the Roundtable with a decorated metal chalice.  It will add to the décor of the Feast this year.  Billy Warren expressed thanks to Mary for this fine gift.

  15. Mary Nicely announced a fascinating program scheduled at the Kennedy-Douglass Art Center on Tuesday, July 11, noon until 1:00 p.m.  Frances Robb of Huntsville will present a program entitled “Tallulah Bankhead: A Southerner Looks at Prejudice.”
